James Carnes is an Innovator, Brand Strategist, and Executive Advisor born and raised near Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1995 with a degree in Industrial Design and after many years as Creative Director at adidas, was appointed Head of Brand Strategy. He was tasked with outlining the brand’s competitive advantage for the 2020 & 2025 strategies, leading the culture toward a new mindset of open-source collaboration, and driving leadership in sustainability. He has pioneered breakthroughs in 3D printing, robotic manufacturing, circularity, and bio-fabrication and led innovative partnerships with Carbon, Mylo, Allbirds, and Parley for the Oceans, launched at the UN in 2015.
